John Mace, the author, has worked
as a British Council lecturer, as a Diplomatic Service
officer, and as a personnel officer in the oil sector.
Latterly he joined the staff of the European Commission,
where he was at first desk officer for several Arab
countries, taking part in the Euro-Arab Dialogue in
the seventies, and later was posted as Delegate to two
further Arab countries.
