Teach Yourself Tagalog is intended to supply the beginner with a simple and well selected stock of words in easy-to-understand lessons.

There are 20 units graded in complexity and each includes a dialogue, a vocabulary listing, a comprehensive grammar explanation, exercises, practice tests and plenty of cultural tips. Each unit has a theme and will teach you the everyday vocabulary and grammar you will need for a business trip or holiday to the Philippines.

The phonetics used throughout the book to help you with your pronunciation are specifically designed for native English speakers and follow standard English pronunciation.

Two 60-minute CDs accompany the course, and are available separately or with the book in a pack.

Cora Salvacion Castle, co-author, is an author, writer, translator and teacher of Tagalog. She is also the Tagalog editor of a Filipino newspaper in London.

Laurence McGonnell is a member of St. Joseph's Missionary Society and spent six years living and working in the Philippines before returning to the UK to become Director of Studies at a north London College. He currently lives and teaches in the Philippines.
